WHAT WE DO

If you are looking for a high-quality and compassionate legal team to assist with your case, look no further than Jerome, Lindsay & Salmi, LLP. Our attorneys are each focused on specific practice areas where they have gained years of experience. Battle tested in courtrooms throughout Illinois and Missouri, our attorneys understand how to carefully maneuver the law and navigate challenging problems for their clients. Ultimately, it’s not about glory, and it’s not about us. It’s all about figuring out how you personally define success and then working hard to achieve it. If you need legal help, we want to be your first and only call.

A lot of law firms try to do it all. Maybe they do it because they’re afraid of walking away from a potential paying customer; maybe they think they can “dabble” or figure it out as they go. Regardless of the reasons, it’s never a good idea to try to do everything. At Jerome, Lindsay & Salmi, LLP, we know that the best results come from years of hard work and focus. Each of our attorneys brings a devoted spirit to the practice of law. We don’t take every case, but for those clients we choose to serve, we offer a “white-glove” experience. It’s truly what sets us apart in the southern Illinois and metro St. Louis region. We frequently handle cases involving:

  • Missouri and Illinois workers’ compensation claims
  • Union worker injuries
  • Factory and distribution center injuries
  • Warehouse injuries
  • Injuries to seniors and children
  • Financial exploitation of seniors and disabled adults
  • Contested and complex probate and guardianship cases
  • Nursing home abuse and neglect cases
  • Auto accidents
  • Uninsured motorist injuries
  • Trucking collisions
  • Motorcycle crashes
  • Veterans’ disability claims
  • Social Security disability appeals
  • Slip and fall injuries
  • Wrongful death cases
  • Complex civil litigation matters
  • Estate planning services

How We Charge For Our Services

The majority of the cases we accept are handled on a contingency fee basis. This just means that we do not charge our clients upfront for our work. Rather, we collect a percentage of the final settlement or judgment as our fee. For cases involving injuries, whether at work, in a motor vehicle accident, or medical errors and nursing home abuse cases, we use the contingent fee model so that our clients do not have to worry about paying a large retainer. Likewise, we advance all of the expenses and costs that go into pursuing compensation.

For probate, guardianship, and other civil cases that do not necessarily involve injuries, we attempt to keep our fees transparent and simple. Many of these cases can be handled using flat fees or installment arrangements. Since every client’s case is unique, no attorney can accurately quote a price over the Internet. However, we always offer free consultations. This way, you have a chance to get to know us, ask questions, and learn a little more about what we can do to help. It’s a no-risk and no-obligation way to figure out what you need to know.

Our Attorneys Are 100% Devoted to Client Success and Satisfaction

We know a lot of businesses promise you’ll be happy, and many companies nowadays tell you whatever you want to hear just to get your business. So, we won’t promise your happiness and satisfaction. In fact, we can’t promise everything will be okay. The law is complicated, and litigation is always somewhat of a gamble. But we will promise to put your interests first and do everything we can to make sure you know your options. Our goal is to educate and inform our clients, so that they can make good choices.

We have a number of ways that we set ourselves apart from the pack. Consider just a few differences:

You can opt-in to receive text alerts about your case. One of the primary complaints people have about attorneys is the lack of communication. We want to not only exceed expectations but also eliminate your concerns about communications. Once you opt-in, you can send and receive confidential text alerts and notifications from your attorneys. Plus, you can send and receive documents and pictures. We even offer a secure client portal, which allows you to review important case documents. It’s our priority to make sure you know what is going on.

Consultations are Attorney-Driven Always.  Oddly enough, a lot of “big box” law firms still use “runners” or contract intake people to drive around meeting with prospective clients. These runners are NOT lawyers, they are NOT paralegals, they are often completely untrained in the law. Their sole job is to fill out paperwork and take it to the lawyer. Some state ethics rules actually forbid runners or so-called “cappers.” These are people who drive around looking for potential injury clients to sign up. They are the definition of ambulance chasers. At Jerome, Lindsay & Salmi, LLP, we firmly oppose the use of non-attorney runners who prey on vulnerable people after an accident or injury. When you hire our firm, you will always meet individually with an attorney who has significant experience in the specific area of practice that you need. You will never be coerced or pressured into signing up.”  In fact, if we can’t help, we will work to make sure you can find the right attorney who can.

Lifelong Clients. We aim to have clients who will be our clients for life. After we help you resolve your injury claim, we hope you’ll let us guide you in deciding how to best use your proceeds. In some cases, we may recommend you contact a financial planner to make good use of the money. For young families, we generally recommend setting up a clear estate plan with powers of attorney and wills.  If you call around and get some quotes, we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how affordably we can help with this.

Local Engagement. Finally, our attorneys aren’t just providing services in St. Clair and Madison Counties, they live here, raise their families here, go to church here, and engage in community events. For example, our senior partner, David Jerome, is on the City Council for Collinsville, IL.

Trusted and Experienced Guidance is in Short Supply

There is no shortage of billboards, TV ads, or attorneys. They’re everywhere these days, and it can be tough to know what you are getting when you call a law firm. Is it a traditional firm that has been passed from father to son for generations?  This may mean excellence. Or it could mean younger attorneys coasted by on name recognition alone. Is it a brand new attorney who is pouring money into TV ads and billboards, aimed at making him or her look experienced?  It can be difficult to know what really matters. Sadly, trusted and experienced guidance is in short supply. At Jerome, Lindsay & Salmi, LLP, we have almost 60 years of collective legal wisdom under one roof. We are a perfect blend of traditional experience and modern services. Each of our attorneys has spent years appearing in courtrooms throughout the region, and they’ve built a reputation as problem solvers and advocates. But don’t take our word for it, stop by and meet us yourself. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
